AN INTERVIEW WITH SHERRI DODD

Q.   Why are you a life coach?

A. My passion is people, growing people. I love to watch people grow whether it is baby steps or giant leaps of faith. I find great satisfaction in seeing others embrace the abundant life God has for them. That's why I am a life coach. A Coach is who I am. I have always come alongside people to encourage them to be all God wants them to be. God is widening my circle of influence through coaching.

Q.   What is coaching to you?

A. Coaching is the art of coming alongside someone to help them clarify their values, set goals, and overcome obstacles in order to move forward in their lives. I ask questions to enable others to develop, and cheer them on as they do.

Q.   In what areas do you see yourself able to coach someone else?

A. Do you need to achieve life balance, work through changes, or discover your God given purpose? I coach those going through transitions, disappointments, and grief. I help those stuck in ruts, knowing that God has more for them. I encourage in areas of marriage, children, and relationships. I motivate those who feel God is calling them into ministry. I delight in watching people trust God and seeing them grow.

Q.   Is coaching the same as counseling?

A. Some of the elements are similar, but the focus of coaching is different than counseling. Counseling helps people deal with past issues in an effort to find emotional healing and wholeness. Coaching focuses on the present and the future, helping emotionally stable people make progress in life. Counseling looks backward for understanding and healing. Coaching looks foward for purpose and growth.
